After a gap of more than three years, director Gunasekhar returned with Euphoria, a social drama that received mixed reviews from both audiences and critics, and amid the discussions about the film, the director revealed an interesting detail that Megastar Chiranjeevi was initially considered for a key role in the movie.
In recent interviews, Gunasekhar said he has carefully noted the public response, including both the positives and negatives. He shared, “I approached Chiranjeevi garu to play the role that was eventually done by Gautham Menon in Euphoria. He liked the character very much. However, we decided not to include him, as we did not want to opt for special appearances at this stage.”
This revelation has sparked debates on social media. Some fans believe Chiranjeevi should have taken up the role, as it is crucial to the story and carries a strong social message. Others feel that his star image might not have suited the character.
Released on February 6, Euphoria marks a shift from Gunasekhar’s usual historical genre. The film focuses on serious issues such as drug addiction and crimes against women. Starring Bhumika Chawla and Sara Arjun in important roles, the movie aims to create awareness about the POCSO Act and its impact on today’s youth.
