Vaazha 2 blends fun, drama, and nostalgia effectively. Strong performances and the emotionally charged final thirty minutes stand out as its biggest strengths.
The Background

Vaazha 2 is the latest blockbuster from the Malayalam film industry, storming into the prestigious ₹200 crore club and still running strong at the box office. One of its producers is Sahu Garapati of Shine Screens, who recently scored success during Sankranti with Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu. The film was first released in Kerala on April 2 and later hit Telugu screens on April 24.

The Story

The narrative follows four youngsters, Hashir, Alan, Ajeen, and Vinayak, who are notorious for their rebellious antics in school. Their carefree lives take a dark turn when they get entangled in a drug-related incident, leading to violence and eventual arrest. The film then explores how society labels them, the consequences of that one mistake, and their journey toward redemption.

The Good

What makes Vaazha 2 shine is its relatable storytelling and natural presentation. It highlights important issues such as parenting, school rules, and the struggles of youngsters who move abroad for studies or jobs in places like the US or Dubai. Director Savin SA captures the emotional journeys of the four friends beautifully in the second half.

The emotional beats land well, especially in the final thirty minutes, which are deeply moving. The lead actors deliver strong performances, while Bijukuttan, Aju Varghese, and Alphonse Puthiren (in a cameo) add depth to the proceedings.

The Bad

The first half feels slightly stretched in parts. With multiple themes — school life, job struggles, and parenting — the film tries to cover too much, leaving some aspects underdeveloped.

The Worse

In the Telugu dubbed version, certain dialogues feel out of place. The attempt to include popular memes in the lines doesn’t always work. Additionally, the director takes a bit too long to establish the characters and world, making some portions feel overdone.

Screentime

Except for a few moments, viewers will hardly find time to glance at their mobile phones.

Takeaway

The film blends fun, drama, and nostalgia effectively. Strong performances and the emotionally charged final thirty minutes stand out as its biggest strengths.

Bottom Line

A regular youth-centric movie, but one with heart.

Rating: 3/5
